That's pretty much it. But the single player campaign and ending are EPIC.

What, no gameplay footage? That's the single most useful thing you can show me to get me to buy a game.

If you play it you'll understand. There's actually no animation during the fight, it just skips right to the punch frame, so this trailer really isn't missing much.

But the main reason is that we would need a $300 capture card to record off xbox (the avatars don't render on pc).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all XBLA Indie games need a demo? How exactly would a demo of this game work?

I'm really skeptical about you guys making much of a return on this though, from what I've heard the XBLA Indie market is terrible unless you can make a stand-out game (impossible game, i made a game with zombies in it, etc.)

Yeah it has a demo. It cuts off during the single player mode and you also can't play multiplayer or online.

And a lot of xna devs would disagree with you about the sales, it seems almost any game that uses avatars is a top seller. Avatar Drop sold 117k in 4 months, and that's just avatars dropping down through rings bouncing off balls.

Plus, we're freakin JFORCE, ok? It doesn't matter if our game was just a big picture of a giant turd that pooped out more giant turds every time you press a button, it would still sell...

Looking at this trailer and from what you've said, your game is no where near the quality of Avatar Drop even though AD itself is a simple game. AD is one of the highest rated indie games and I think the rating system is where you are going to have problems. I'll agree with you on avatar games doing better than others, but you still need to have some kind of substance there, your game seems far too basic to catch a large amount attention like the other avatar games.

That's why I'm skeptical. I think there's a small chance you might get sales worth your while, but it seems very unlikely given what I've seen here and what I've seen on the XBLA indie market.

Well you really need to play it before you can come to that conclusion. The single player mode is pretty funny and we think people will want to progress in it to see who's next.

And this is a remake of a game that we played a lot as kids, and we always had fun with it. Betting other people will too.

Also considering this is the first avatar action game, where you can actually attack each other with your avatars, I think that's pretty significant.

Yeah, I get that. I'm just going off what I've seen here. I'll check the demo out when it goes up. I just think it seems too good to be true that you can release any game with AVATAR in it and get good sales.

I'm actually wondering now, on a somewhat unrelated note, are there any rules preventing someone from ripping off game names? For instance, could some guy release a game called "Avatar Drop" that is a crude MS Paint version of the real one? Or a name like "Avatar Dr0p"?

In general though I'm not too interested in anything on indie store unless it is a really great product. None of the current indie titles I've heard of fall under this definition for me. To be honest, I've been pretty underwhelmed with the indie XB360 stuff. Especially compared to the stuff you can get on the PC (via services like Steam).

I don't think there's a written rule about the name thing, but I doubt you'd get through peer review. I don't see why someone would wanna do that anyway.

And yeah I agree with you about the underwhelming games. Really, there aren't any GREAT games on the service. By great I mean games like Braid, World of Goo, Aquaria, Cave Story, Castle Crashers, etc. Those are all a huge step above every single xbox indie game.

BUT, fear not, JForce will change all that...

Gyrovorbis team is pretty much breaking apart, First his brother left, a lot of his artist, and now peter is apparently leaving now too. so he's pretty much failing lol.

I looked at their youtube channel a few days ago and saw the latest video as being 7 months old. Not that youtube uploads suggest the health of a team, but all of the stuff they showed were tech demos and then they apparently had to redo everything. So regardless of how the team is doing, they're probably not working on the actual game as usual and instead coding this engine they've been doing for years.

When that stuff started out both of you were jokers, but at least you guys weren't taking it seriously. That guy is easily one of the most arrogant "game developers" I've ever seen and has very little to back it up with. Especially since you guys released the Unstoppable trailer, those guys have no room to talk.

At the forums they admit it's very early stuff still (in their words, tech demos). From what I seen, I have difficulty believing they'll ever produce anything worthwhile. The way they are doing things is very similar to other indies who fall flat on their face.

Just the fact they are developing a game that is to run on DC, PSP, and PC is enough for me to count them out. It makes no sense at all.

They are aiming far to big, If I remember correctly they are doing an rpg, as well as an engine. RPG's take regular companies at least 3 years to finish, simply because they are very long. than making an engine and remaking it is hard as well. they possibly wont ever use the engine again either.

So we failed peer review again (actually we pulled out cuz we we're going to fail). There's a fatal bug in the game if you bring up the guide menu during an avatar loading screen. So we're back to jail for a week and then we'll resubmit.

So how long does peer review take? It seemed like it was about a week last time you guys put it up.

In other words, is it about 2 weeks or so before this makes it on the marketplace, assuming it passes review?

Review could technically take anywhere between 2-30 days, but on average I think it's about 4-14 days. So yeah it'll probably be another couple a weeks or so before it's out. We'll be working on Unstoppable in the meantime.

Just so yall know i technically "Beta-Tested" Avatar Showdown. Even in the not completed form it was pretty cool i will definitely buy it when it comes out. Unstoppable is pretty bad A too it's a definite top seller.

By the looks of it the game will be out soon. Are you guys going to make the sales public like the other indies have? Even without exact figures, I'm interested to know how this turns out in future posts.

Yeah we'll definitely post sales figures. For all of our games we plan to be very open and post detailed stats every month.

Is this game available on LIVE online where you can challenge your friends or is it only local on the same machine?

Yes there is an online mode, however some users are experiencing some crashing problems with it. We'll have a fix for this asap.

5 minutes? That's pretty good. Most people we've seen just give up on Chuck Norris.

I lost a few times to chuck because the best time I could get period was about .17 secs. I tried my best to hit it just before when I thought it was going to flash. finally got it after a few tries with .02 lol
